Wasatch Fly Fisher

Wasatch Riverbook Privacy Policy

Wasatch Fly Fisher, Ogden, Utah. Effective November 2026.

Wasatch Riverbook collects no data. Your licenses stay on your device. The optional near-me check sends only rounded coordinates to the EPA, and we never receive them.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no accounts, no sign-in, no servers, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We never see your licenses, photos, catches, location or any other information you enter. Apart from the optional near-me check described below, everything stays on your device.

What stays on your phone

Licenses, license photos, Species Log Book entries (dates, locations, conditions, flies, notes and catch photos), your home state and settings are stored only in the app's storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS file encryption.

Optional "Check listed waters near me"

The Find waters screen has an optional button to check listed waters near you. It runs only when you tap that button, and only after you agree to a consent prompt. The app then gets one location fix from iOS, rounds the coordinates to an approximate point, and sends only those rounded coordinates to the U.S. government EPA NHDPlus map service (or the USGS National Map as a backup) to look up the names of nearby streams. Nothing else is sent: no licenses, no Log Book entries, no name and no device identifier. The request goes directly from your phone to that government service. David Blackett and Wasatch Fly Fisher never receive or store your location or anything else. The government service handles the request under its own policies. If you never tap the button, no location is used and nothing leaves your phone.

Camera, photos and Face ID

The camera and photo library are used only when you add a picture. Photo cleanup and text scanning run on the device. Face ID is handled by iOS; the app only learns whether unlocking succeeded. Your app PIN is stored as a salted hash in the iOS Keychain on this device.

Encrypted backups

If you export a backup, the app encrypts it with a password you choose and hands it to you through the iOS share sheet. You decide where it goes (Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop or elsewhere). We never receive it and cannot recover the password.

Sending a slam entry

If you choose to send a native slam entry, the app opens an email draft or the program's official page for you to review. Nothing is sent unless you send it yourself, and it goes only to the recipient you choose.

Children

The app collects no information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date.
