Ogden Area Pressure Report: Week of Oct 19, 2026

A storm is coming Thursday, and the barometer is already telling the story. Here’s what the pressure looks like this week and what it could mean for the trout.

Barometric pressure chart for the Ogden area, week of Oct 19, 2026

The week at a glance

Pressure holds steady right around 30.0 inHg Monday and Tuesday, with sunny, warm days. It starts sliding Wednesday afternoon, dips to about 29.8 by Wednesday evening, then drops hard Thursday and bottoms out near 29.57 inHg around 3 PM. Showers and storms move in Thursday and hang on into Friday. Behind the front, pressure climbs fast, back above 30.1 by Friday afternoon and up to about 30.19 late Friday night.

What it means for the trout

A falling barometer before a front often turns fish on. Wednesday afternoon into Thursday, with clouds rolling in and pressure dropping, is the window I would circle. Look for BWOs on the gray days and browns chasing streamers. Once the front passes and high pressure brings bright bluebird skies, the bite can slow down. On those days go smaller, fish deeper, and slow down your drifts.

Stay safe when the storm hits. Smaller streams can rise and color up fast, so check the gauges and stay off rising water.
